Welcome to the web site of the Progressive Firefighters Association Charities (PFA), of Miami-Dade and Broward County, Florida. This is a community-based, nonprofit organization. We, the members of the PFA, consist of Miami-Dade and Broward County Firefighter and First Responder employees, both active and retired, who have dedicated our lives to community service beyond our regular call of duty. We are aware of the hardships that some families face just trying to make ends meet. Through our membership dues, we can graciously donate funds to assist these families annually. For forty years the PFA has been able to give back to the underserved communities we assist through several functions.
Firefighters & First Responders: Mentors & Community Advocates
As firefighters and first responders, we’re viewed as career-driven positive role models. That recognition has resulted in us implementing a mentorship program for at-risk kids. Our community center, which is based in Opa-Locka, Florida, provides neighborhood children with computers and printers, which helps them meet some of the technological demands of their academic classes.
For many years we have given away school supplies during our back-to-school community event. Over the years we provided thousands of kids with book bags filled with school supplies. We also provide free haircuts and manicures to these students, sending them back to school eager to learn for the new school year.
